Deponia Daedalic Entertainment/Lace Mamba Thank you for purchasing 'Deponia'. For further information on the game please have a look at the game booklet. --- FAQ --- Question: Where can I find the savegames? Question: Where can I find the screenshots? Question: Where can I find the config.ini file? Question: Where can I find the messages.log file? Question: Where can I find the visplayer.dmp file? Answer: In accordance with the Windows User Rights guideline the files that are being written by the game application are saved to the user directory folder of the current user. This folder can be found at the following location. - For Windows Vista and Windows 7 Savegames: C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment\Deponia\Savegames\ Screenshots: C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment\Deponia\Screenshots\ config.ini, messages.log, visplayer.dmp: C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment\Deponia\ - For Windows XP Savegames: C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\Local Settings\App Data\Daedalic Entertainment\Deponia\Savegames\ Screenshots: C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\Local Settings\App Data\Daedalic Entertainment\Deponia\Screenshots\ config.ini, messages.log, visplayer.dmp: C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\Local Settings\App Data\Daedalic Entertainment\Deponia\ Question: How can I enable or disable the texture compression? Answer: The texture compression can be enabled or disabled to bypass problematic locations in the game. (Default setting is 'Disabled') To change this option open the config.ini file located in your user directory folder and change the value for the 'UseTextureCompression'. Set the value to 'Enabled' to activate the texture compression or 'Disabled' to deactive it. The value 'UseTextureCompressionQuality' determines the quality of texture compression. Available options are 'Low', 'Medium' or 'High'. The default setting is 'UseTextureCompressionQuality = Medium'. A lower quality category can result in slight color deviation of the texture edges. A higher quality category will need increased computing power. Question: How can I play the game in window mode? Answer: To play the game in window mode you need to start it at least once, which will generate the config.ini file for the user directory folder. The important settings herein are 'FULLSCREEN' and 'RESOLUTION'. To play the game in window mode set the value 'FULLSCREEN = no' and for the value RESOLUTION enter the desired window size values in 'Width x Height'. For example: 'RESOLUTION = 1280x720'. --- Troubleshooting --- If you are having trouble with a low game performance we recommend closing all other programs (e.g. internet browser). This may improve the performance of 'Deponia'. Problem: The voice output is being skipped and the texts are only visible for a very short time. Solution: The combination of Windows Vista/7, a Realtek sound card and headphones can be responsible for this behavior which might occur when you disconnect your headphones while playing 'Deponia'. To get a proper sound output and text speed you need to restart the game. You should still be able to save your game normally and load it after restarting. Problem: In full screen mode the picture can only be seen as a segment in the upper left corner or in full screen mode the picture is cut being cut off at the bottom. Solution: Older Intel GPUs like G965 Express only support OpenGL 1.4. The setting 'RESOLUTION = Auto' from the config.ini file can therefore not be used. You may change this value to 'RESOLUTION = Desktop' to still be able to play the game properly. Problem: The support team needs additional information from the messages.log file to help me with my problem. Solution: Change the value 'LOGLEVEL' in your config.ini file to 'LOGLEVEL = info'. Then start the game and play until your problem occurs again. Problem: The mouse cursor is far too sensitive if I use a graphics tablet/Wacom Cintig as an input device. Solution: Digital drawing pencils are not officially supported as an input device. However, you might be able to use it properly if you change the game to window mode. Problem: The mouse cursor is too slow or the cursor is jumping and the picture is laggy. Solution: This is a driver conflict created by an outdated driver. In most cases it proved helpful to update the driver of your Realtek sound card to solve the problem. Note for the ATI Radeon X1950 / X1950 Pro / X1950 Crossfire Edition: These widespread display adapters are - against the manufacturers statement - not completely compatible to OpenGL 2.0. Up from Catalyst Version 7.8 OpenGL does not work correctly anymore. Problem: Cropped picture when connected via HDMI to LCD monitors with AMD/ATI display adapter. Solution: With the overscan feature of your LCD it is possible that the picture of the game is cropped on all sides. You can fix this by opening your config.ini file and change the setting 'RESOLUTION' to 'RESOLUTION = desktop' so the LCD screen won't scale your desktop's picture automatically. Problem: I use a laptop with a shared memory display adapter and the game crashes after a short time of play. Solution: Deponia is not compatible with shared memory display adapters. You need to activate the high-performance display adapter of your laptop, if available. Problem: I use a laptop with AMD GPU and the Rage Performance Driver. I am not able to start the game. Solution: Deponia is not compatible with the AMD Rage Performance Driver. Please update your driver to the newest version. Problem: Laptops that use Nvidia Optimus technology do not automatically switch to the Nvidia high-performance display adapter. This is a known issue for all games which use the OpenGL interface. Solution: Laptops that have a Geforce- and a Intel-HD display adapter available use the Intel shared memory display driver by default. We recommend to change this option for the file deponia.exe. To do so open the Nvidia Control Panel and go to '3D settings' --> 'Manage 3D settings' --> 'Program Settings' and add the deponia.exe file from your game installation path. Have fun playing, your 'Deponia' team
